These 110V plastic submersible sump pumps have a plastic body that won't corrode and are commonly used to drain water in sump pits. They are compatible with most standard U.S. residential electrical wall outlets and have a Type A (two prongs, ungrounded) or Type B (three prongs, grounded) power cord plug.Submersible sump pumps drain water from basement sump pits and operate while completely underwater at the bottom of the sump pit. They are submerged in the water to cool the pump motors so they can run longer without overheating, compared to upright/pedestal sump pumps that have motors above the sump pit. Submersible pumps are electric-operated and have a pump body and pump motor combined into one unit. They have a switch that starts the pump motor when sump pit water rises to a certain height, then stops the pump motor when the water has drained down.
